Mysticetus Software Helps BP Navigate Marine Mammal Protection in the Arctic

Aug 1, 2014

Barrow, Alaska - Mysticetus LLC announced today its software played a key role in supporting British Petroleum's (BP) commitment to marine mammal protection during their 2014 Arctic exploration, drilling, and extraction operations. This project marked a significant milestone for Mysticetus, representing the company's first direct involvement in real-time mitigation efforts.

Deployed on BP vessels operating in the Arctic, Mysticetus' software provided a comprehensive platform for marine mammal monitoring, data collection, data sharing, and analysis. This technology enabled BP to maintain continuous awareness of marine mammal presence in their operational areas, facilitating timely and informed decisions to minimize potential impacts on these sensitive species.

"We are pleased to have provided BP with the tools they needed to meet the stringent requirements of the Marine Mammal Protection Act," said Dave Steckler, CEO of Mysticetus. "This project demonstrated the real-world effectiveness of our software in facilitating responsible and compliant operations in even the most challenging environments."

Mysticetus's successful collaboration with BP in the Arctic underscores the increasing demand for advanced technologies that can help balance industrial activity with environmental protection.
