Mysticetus Technology Supports USS Gerald R. Ford Ship Shock Trials

Aug 8, 2021

Mysticetus LLC, a provider of advanced software for offshore operations, contributed to the successful execution of the recent ship shock trials for the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), supporting the U.S. Navy’s efforts in environmental responsibility.

Ship shock trials, a crucial step in testing the resilience of new naval vessels, involve detonating underwater explosives near the ship to assess its structural integrity. The USS Gerald R. Ford, the U.S. Navy’s newest aircraft carrier, successfully completed this testing phase.

During these trials, Mysticetus provided the U.S. Navy with software solutions to track vessels and monitor the surrounding marine environment in real-time. This technology facilitated adherence to strict environmental regulations and helped ensure minimal impact on marine ecosystems.

“We are proud to support the U.S. Navy’s commitment to both national security and environmental stewardship,” said Dave Steckler, CEO of Mysticetus. “Our software’s ability to provide real-time data and analysis was essential in ensuring these critical trials were conducted safely and responsibly.”

The successful completion of the USS Gerald R. Ford’s ship shock trials is a significant achievement. Mysticetus is pleased to have played a role in this success by providing technology that helps balance operational requirements with environmental protection.
